Brother Transferred

The Author of this post is Solomon Dejesus

My brother has a great job and we are all very proud of the accomplishments he has made. However, his job recently transferred him to Arizona. I never thought my brother would be so far away. He was just a short car ride away and I would complain about that. Now, I will have to get on an airplane if I want to see him. He was able to find a great house that is in a great neighborhood. Since he will be there alone, he made sure it had a Tucson ADT Security system. He knows I am the worrier of the family and this would be great news to me. He was right, of course. His job pays very well and the house has four bedrooms. He was sweet enough to call one of them “my” room. My brother really knows how to make my heart melt. Even though I was thinking I wouldn't make it out to Arizona, he tells me something touching like that and I start booking my flight. I am a sucker for sweetness and he is worth it.

EdenFantasys Their Not ALL About "Toys"

Warning: This post may have some adult content not suitable for children, I just want to make that clear from the beginning. Thank you!

I was contacted by EdenFantasys about writing posts about the many aspects the site has to offer. At first I wasn't sure if I was comfortable with it, but after looking through the site they have many other things to offer besides "toys". As the New Year approaches I have made a resolution to take better care of myself. That means taking care of my body with losing weight and making myself look good, and for me that means wearing some make-up. I am one that believes that if you are happy with how you look outside then the more confident you will feel with yourself inside. Make-up does not make you pretty, it enhances the beauty that is already there!

At EdenFantasys they carry make-up! Yeah I know I was surprised too. They have lipsticks, body make-up and make-up palettes. I plan on ordering a few things before the New Year so that once the New Year begins I will be on the right track to taking better care of myself. This won't be the only thing I plan on ordering from EdenFantasys but I will let you all know more about my other purchases in future posts. I do suggest going and looking for yourself for the many wonderful things their site has to offer.

New Years Eve Fun!

Follow Me on Pinterest

Check out my Pinterest New Years Eve board to see what I liked and re-pinned for some great New Years Eve ideas. I am not partying this year but I still have some plans...

This year it's just me and my family, as it has been for the last 10 or so years. But I want to make this year a little different. Why not play some board games, enjoy our new SodaStream and instead of toasting with champagne we're using sparkling cider! How fun huh!?!

With two teenage sons that like to stay home and play video games, or "talk" on the computer as our 16 year old likes to do, I figure we would actually spend the night playing some Scrabble instead of playing it against each other on Facebook using Words With Friends.

And there is always my favorites Scattergories, Monopoly, and Sorry!. So this New Years Eve I hope to play some "old school" board games lol.

Pinterest is a great place to get ideas for your New Years Eve whether you are throwing a party or just hanging at home like me :) You can also go to Matter of Cents and Shopping for Savings to check out their posts and add them on Pinterest!

Pet Cakes® Toys Review & Giveaway

Pet Cakes® Toys Series 2
Right before Christmas I was looking through toy sites and somehow stumbled upon the Pet Cakes® Toys website. Pet Cakes® Toys are described as Deliciously Cute Cupcake Pets! I could tell this was a toy I wanted to review, not just for me but for my girls to give their opinion. After contacting the company, they responded by graciously offering me Pet Cakes® to review as well as giving one of my readers a Pet Cakes® Toy.

When the Pet Cakes® arrived there was immediate excitement from my two youngest girls. I received Bamboo Berry the panda and Roco Coco the raccoon from the Series 2 of Pet Cakes® Toys. There was a tag attached to each of them telling all about who they are and where they live.

Aren't these adorable!?

Each of the Pet Cakes® is attached to their cupcake wrapper, but you can easily clip the piece attaching them together. My daughter, Isabella, who is six decided she would take Bamboo Berry the panda. She likes to push him down into his wrapper so that he looks like a cupcake when she is not playing with him. At night she likes to snuggle with him in bed. My daughter, Olivia, who is eight is a little different with her Roco Coco the raccoon. She clipped him from his cupcake wrapper right away and likes to carry him around. She returns him to his cupcake wrapper when she's done playing with him. They both love their Pet Cakes® Toys and I do too. They are cute, easy to store and fun to play with.

You can purchase any Pet Cakes® Toys on their website and you can friend them on Facebook, Pet Cakes® Toys.

Special Offer: Buy (4) or more PetcakesR Collectibles plush toys and receive the PetCakesR Collectibles Minis - 4 pack FREE you only pay an additional $1.99 shipping and handling.

Parrot Carrot Book Giveaway

Parrot Carrot Giveaway!! 12/28-1/11

Review and Giveaway by Brae’s blog:  http://www.becauseidontscrapbook.blogspot.com/
I am so excited to announce my next giveaway for the new children’s book, Parrot Carrot!!!
Jol and Kate Temple wrote this book for their little boy, Arlo, based on their attempts to get him to go to sleep.
I was given this book to review and give away, and was so excited to share it with my kids. In all honesty, I was sure my younger 2 would love it, but I thought my almost 7 year old, Lilly, would turn up her little nose.
This book is a collection of rhymes- but not JUST rhymes, they’re rhymes that, once you turn the page,  take on a hilarious new meaning! “Goose. Moose.”- with darling pictures of a goose and a moose, illustrated by Jon Foye. Then you turn the page. “Here is a goose that looks like a moose!”
To my surprise and delight, even my attitude-adjustment-required first grader cracked up with every clever rhyme and picture. Even my little baby  (will be 1 next week) sat and giggled at the pages. I, myself, found this book something that needed to be added to our collection. I absolutely loved it. So, Parrot Carrot has the seal of approval from me, and my kids, ages 1, 4, 5, and nearly 7.
Please visit the official Parrot Carrot website at http://parrotcarrot.com/, and check out their app! (Yeah! There’s an app for that! – Is that not AWESOME!!!?)
You have two weeks to enter this adorable book with the easy rafflecopter form below. Good luck!

My December Winnings...

So I enter A LOT of giveaways every month, I can't enter ones that I participate in of course, but I make up for it in the other ones. In the beginning of the month I received an email stating I won a $50 Amazon gift card, I was so excited I could use that money for Christmas presents! The blog I entered to win it from will remain nameless because I am so angered by them, for a month now I have emailed and sent direct messages on Twitter asking for the gift card, no response! As a blogger you do not do that to your readers, that is not only a horrible thing to do as a blogger but as a person as well. They have been on Twitter sending out tweets, so I know they have received my messages. Bad, bad blogger!

Fortunately the other things I won this month have come in, well all but a couple but I know the items will come soon. From the awesome blog, Front Porch Reviews, I won a Cathy Rankin calendar. I didn't have much use for a calendar of Cathy wearing different tiny outfits, but my step-dad liked it so he got an early Christmas present. Then from the great blog, Tethered Mommy, I won a VeggieTales: Little Drummer Boy DVD and Classic Christmas Collection Box Set on Blu-Ray! These were nice to watch before Christmas. At the super cool blog, Fatty Bumpkins, I won a $25 Toys R Us gift card! What perfect timing since Christmas was right around the corner! From the fun blog, Staying Me, I won a $50 gift code to EdenFantasys.com. I like that they sale make-up and bath & body items too. And then from one of my most favorite blogs ever, Whole Lotta Mama, I won a gift pack with Eco-Lips chapstick with a Eco Clip Carabiner, 3 Monkey Balms and a Surprise Gift Pack! I also won a baby sling randomly on Twitter from Baba Sling Ltd as well as a $50 gift code to FashionPlaytes.com from being a part of a Twitter party with MomCentral.com, this was my second twitter party ever! I have given the links to the blogs and sites for you to go check them out, and let them know I sent you if you want :) I trust these sites and know they are wonderful!!!

So I can say it definitely pays to do the giveaways, whether it is in Rafflecopter form or joining a Twitter party. For my giveaways I use Rafflecopter, and inside rafflecopter they use random.org to pick the winner, so I have no choice who wins, no influence what so ever. As a blogger I realize there can be disappointment in losing but please don't take it out on the blogger. I have gone a month without winning and then have a really good month like December, so don't enter expecting to win, just be grateful when you do. Above all just have fun, and remember to leave a comment once in awhile telling the blog owner how much you appreciate the chance to win something!

Natural House Cleaning Products Review & Giveaway

I received the Natural House cleaning products Sinky, Flushy and Trashy to review. I really liked the fact that the products are eco-friendly, non-toxic and biodegradable. I used the products for two weeks and really liked the outcome. Not only was my toilet, trash can and sink clean but there was a pleasant smell afterwards, not a chemical or bleach scent. Each product was easy to use and you only need to use them once a week. Sinky, Flushy and Trashy all have a probiotic that creates a odor eating ecosystem to digest odors at their source. Here is a quick video describing how the products work.
I feel good about this product and would not suggest it unless I was sure it was safe and actually worked. Natural House has been kind enough to offer one of my readers a one month supply of Sinky, Flushy and Trashy!

*I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Just a Few More Days Until Christmas

There are only a handful of days left to do Christmas shopping and I'm still not finished! To make matters worse I have come down with a cold!! I don't catch colds or get the flu as often as I think I am going to. To explain that I have five kids and if you can think of all the germs they come in contact with, not to mention the several times they have had a cold this year I have been expecting it, but not at Christmas time. Having Fibromyalgia and a cold is like someone stepped all over me, and then stuffed my nose, scratched my throat, took away my sense of taste and have a vise on my head. Oh yes, it that pleasant. So thanks to some dayquil I was able to tolerate some of my symptoms. But I have more Christmas shopping to get done and a list of reviews to complete.

Enough of my complaining! One thing I am happy about it that I will have more time with my kids during this Christmas vacation. I love it when they are home. Now I need to come up with activities to keep them occupied so I can get some reviews done. What are your plans for the holidays? What do you do with your kids for their break? I'd love to hear what everyone else does, as well as get some ideas of what to do, we have done a lot of arts and crafts but there is always something new out there.

My Memories Review and Giveaway

I had seen My Memories Suite software but had always thought since I was no good at actual scrap booking then I would be just as bad with the software. Fortunately I was given a chance to review the software and was pleasantly surprised at how easy the digital scrapbooking software was to use!

Now after using My Memories Suite I am confident that I can make scrapbook pages, invitations, and cards! I am so thrilled with my very first page that I am happy to share with you all! Here it is:

Fruit Enzyme Micro Scrub

I am always trying to find a facial scrub that will exfoliate and moisturize. I may have the opportunity to try the product Fruit Enzyme Micro Scrub by NaturalSkinShop.com. The scrub is made up of four fruit extracts, papaya, mango, orange and pineapple. I believe the mango extract will be most beneficial for my face, because my face has become so dry over the years. I also think the orange extract would help with my dark spots caused by sun damage. I look forward to being able to try this product and giving my honest opinion on it.

Enter to win a Leather Pouch by LovejoyCreations!

I have always loved the smell of real leather. It has a smell like no other. I received a leather pouch with the most beautiful scene of owls on it, all hand tooled by Brenda of Lovejoycreations. The work is phenomenal! You can tell there is so much love and care put into the piece with such great details. There is even a couple of little acorns on the back of the pouch! Here is a photo, but my camera doesn't take quality pictures, but I still wanted you all to see my leather pouch:
Lovejoycreations is a husband and wife team, John and Brenda, that make custom, hand tooled leather purses, clutches, wallets, belts and scrapbook albums. They also take custom orders! Brenda started drawing at a very young age, her parents encouraged her by giving her drawing pads, pencils and erasers. While in junior high Brenda started selling her drawings to classmates, some still have the drawings to this day. In high school she sold oil paintings, and it was there that her art teacher taught her that you must draw and draw well. It was after high school that she was introduced to leather works. Brenda went onto other things until three years ago when she enrolled in a leather works class, it was the start of Lovejoycreations.

Lovejoycreations has items available for purchase on Etsy and Artfire. You can also find them on Facebook and sending tweets through Twitter. Lovejoycreations has also been kind enough to offer a leather pouch to one of my readers!

A Christmas Poem

Just thought I would share a cute Christmas poem I found while looking through the web. It made me smile just imagining some of it really happening. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
A Puppy's Christmas

It's the day before Christmas
And all through the house
The puppies are squeaking
An old rubber mouse.

The wreath which had merrily
Hung on the door
Is scattered in pieces
All over the floor.

The stockings that hung
In a neat little row
Now boast a hole in
Each one of the toes.

The tree was subjected
To bright-eyed whims,
And now, although splendid,
It's missing some limbs.

I catch them and hold them.
"Be good", I insist.
They lick me, then run off
To see what they've missed.

And now as I watch them
The thought comes to me,
That their's is the spirit
That Christmas should be.

Should children and puppies
Yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy
That should come with this day?

Could they bring the message
That's written above,
And tell us that, most of all
Christmas is love.
*I cannot take credit for this poem, I found it on the web but there was no author listed.*

Enter to win the Giveable Greetings Giveaway

Giveable Greetings was created by Steph, a self proclaimed stationery-obsessed graphic designer, that has the need to illustrate puns and put them to paper.

Though originally studying to be a forensic psychologist, Steph did a sporadic 180 and instead went to school for 2d animation (you know, the hand-drawn kind), an industry in which she was employed for several years before realizing that she preferred to work with images that didn't move. Currently working as a freelance illustrator, web & graphic designer, children's book artist, and hobbyist photographer, Steph began Giveable Greetings as a side project for her more quirky, vintage- and retro-inspired art. Currently offering cards and gift tags, she plans to branch out and incorporate her designs into other media. Her cards can be found for sale at the Outer Layer in Toronto, Ontario, as well as online. She is taking part in the Sketchbook Project 2012, and can be found on Store Envy, Etsy, Facebook, and Twitter.

I was sent nine of Giveable Greetings cards, and was impressed by the quality of the cards. These are not your average greeting cards! The graphics are so cute, with great detail. I was going to take pictures of my cards but honestly my photos would not show all the beauty on each card. Here is an example from Giveable Greetings site:
One of my favorites!!
Giveable Greetings has graciously offered a wonderful pack for one of my lucky readers! Just in time for the holidays! One reader will get Christmas cards, choice of 2 packs of gift tags and a pack of change of address postcards!
Just click on these links to visit Giveable Greetings different sites:
Giveable Greetings Facebook, Giveable Greetings StoreEnvy, Giveable Greetings Etsy and Giveable Greetings Twitter.

"Giveable Greetings: Quirky & fun with a dash of sass & a lot of pun"

* I received the products mentioned above for evaluation purposes. All opinions are 100% mine. The biography of Steph was written by Steph herself.*

You Can't Always Get What You Want!

Have you ever watched your child's reaction when opening a gift they didn't really want? Or has your child ever told you the gifts they expected, not what they would've liked but literally what they expected? I have noticed more kids these days having this sense of entitlement. With Christmas so close now, and how stressed I am about trying to buy my kids some gifts period, I started to think about my Christmas experience as a child. I want my kids to realize that Christmas is not about what gifts you get but the things, friends and family you have already. Easier said then done!

I know when I was a kid I couldn't wait for Christmas morning and I could care less about the things I already had, not until I was a little older and realized we were basically poor. I remember one year I wanted a type writer so bad, this was before computers were in almost every home! I came out Christmas morning and there was a huge box, I just knew it was my type writer! I saved it for the very last gift to open. I was so excited, I couldn't get the wrapping off fast enough. I was so disappointed to see a box for a plastic shelving unit. I was heart broken, and as much as I tried to hide my disappointment you could still see it in my face. My eyes were stinging from holding the tears back, so I quickly got my gifts together and put them away in my room.

That Christmas taught me something though. I was only 10 or 11 at the time and I had learned that in life you can't always get what you want. Something we all learn at some point, mine just happen to have a Christmas morning attached to it. As much as I don't want to let my children feel that same disappointment, I know they need to at some point. Whether it be a Christmas morning, Easter, or a birthday.

We know you can't always get what you want, and maybe it's best that we don't. :)

It's December Already!?!

Hey everyone! I cannot believe it's December already! Where did the year go? I hope that my last month of 2011 is better than the last eleven months have been. I have been working on some major changes in my life, and I am happy with the outlook. For those who haven't read my postings or if you have and don't remember I just started this blog September 14, 2011. This blog has been a blessing, and I am so grateful for it!

I have some big plans for this blog and my writing. I hope to become a well known blogger :) I love to do reviews and giveaways! I am open to reviewing just about any product out there, I am not picky! The big companies started out small at one point in time, so anyone that would like their product reviewed and you might like to do a giveaway just contact me! My email is OneMomsMoxie(at)gmail(dot)com.

And last but not least, does anybody do New Years Resolutions? In the past I have made some resolutions but never followed through. This year I really, really want to make a promise to myself to lose over a hundred pounds. I just need encouragement and will power. My Fibromyalgia makes it difficult too. I guess I'll see how I am feeling about making one around New Years :) If anyone else is making a resolution and would like encouragement, please let me know in comment or email, I am willing to be there to help push you towards whatever goal you have set for yourself!

Happy December! Don't forget to enter the Winter Wonderbucks Giveaway!! I will be posting another review and giveaway in the next day or two!
