Batiste Dry Shampoo Review

For years I couldn't go more than a day without shampooing my hair, not because it was oily, I just felt cleaner when I would shampoo it. What I didn't realize was that I was damaging my hair, besides all the damage I was doing by washing I was also straightening my hair, that was double damage! Then I discovered dry shampoo. I could spray my hair, brush it through, then look and feel clean.

I was using a popular brand for the last couple years until I was given the Batiste Dry Shampoo to try and compare to my regular brand.

Using the Batiste Dry Shampoo compared to my regular brand was more than a difference of night and day, they were light years away! With Batiste you don't feel weighed down, and there was no gritty feeling that I would sometimes feel with the other brand. I learned that most dry shampoos are made with a corn starch base but Batiste is made with a rice starch making so much lighter. So my hair still had volume after each use and smelled wonderful. The scent I was given to try is called Floral and Flirty Blush. Batiste Dry Shampoo is really a one minute miracle!

Batiste carries a variety of dry shampoos, there's even a gold shimmer for those nights out with the girls.

To keep up with all of Batiste's newest products, news or any other reason besides that they are awesome, follow Batiste on Facebook and Twitter!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

My Friend Bernard Movie Review

I recently had a family movie night, which we try to do at least once a month. This month our movie night was sponsored by Collective Bias and #CouchCritics. We were asked to watch the new movie, My Friend Bernard, which can be rented from most Redbox kiosks. You can also reserve the movie online at Redbox.com to guarantee that you will get it and it's convenient.

Before we could have movie night we had to pick up a few things at Walmart, as well as rent the movie. You can see our entire shopping experience here. I had to grab my caramel popcorn and some fudge brownies Goldfish. I figure polar bears would like either one and so would a little boy.
Once we picked up the few things we needed we headed home to make some snacks that any polar bear would love!
My daughter Olivia thought she would have fun making fish jump in and out of her sandwich! This is one of the few times I allow them to play with their food.

We also had some Planters Honey Roasted Cashews, we thought nuts are easy to carry and great for energy while being on an adventure.
We also had Klondike Oreo bars for dessert, they went great with our movie since there is a polar bear right on the front!
Once we had eaten most of our snacks, just like any bear would, we started watching My Friend Bernard.
As much as I would love to tell you about the entire movie, I can't, but I will tell you a couple of things. My Friend Bernard is rated PG and is 70 minutes long. The main characters are Sam, the little boy, Bernard, the polar bear and two penguins Lloyd and Eva. Sam is a very timid and shy little boy but his world changes once he meets Bernard, Lloyd and Eva. They go on an adventure that has a few twists and turns that keep you watching and wondering how things will end.

For those that may want to know this entire movie is narrated and although I enjoyed this movie, it seems more for older toddlers up to maybe age 6. That is completely my own opinion though. For those interested in Redbox you can follow Redbox on Facebook and Twitter.

Creativity for Kids Review & Giveaway!!

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed arts and crafts. Through out school I was excited when we were assigned projects that required a lot of creativity. I even took a child development class and loved when we had to make story books or do art with the little kids. This love of arts and crafts has been passed on to my three daughters. So when I was sent not one but three  Creativity for Kids crafting kits made by Faber-Castell, for my daughters to try, we were all thrilled! The first was the Mossy Meadows Gnome Garden.
Normally I would have a photo of the actual box but my 12 year old, Kaylen, claimed this kit as hers and ran off with it, never to be seen again. She made the garden and it looks adorable. My daughter, Isabella, loves all things girly. So I thought the super cute Fashion Headbands! She made herself a cute little headband, I plan on making more with her very soon, the days have been so busy lately but it's important to get some fun creative time in together.

The last kit we received was the Deluxe Glitter Art kit that my daughter Olivia scooped up. She thought the boxes that you could personalize were awesome and so do I! Olivia is very artsy so this type of Creativity for Kids kit is perfect for her.
We know that we have a lot of artistic weekends ahead of us with these fabulous Creativity for Kids kits. I think it's funny that the kits say they are for  ages 5 to 95 because it is so true! There are quite a few kits that you can purchase but honestly none compare to these ones. I can say that Faber-Castell know what they are doing and our house gives these 5 stars!

Faber-Castell has been so generous to offer One Mom's Moxie readers the chance to win two awesome kits of their own. The same Deluxe Glitter Art kit and the Beach Buddies Shells Craft kit.

Disclosure: By publishing this post, I received free products as part of a promotional program with MomSelect. All opinions are my own.

Dryer Fighters Toronto - Preventing Dryer Fires!

There are so many things to do to take care of your home and sometimes we get behind on some normal maintenance care. I know from my own experience that taking care of an entire house by yourself can be overwhelming at times. So a couple of years ago when we had to move, while I had our dryer unplugged I decided to take the back off and wipe down the inside. I was shocked to see how much dryer lint had accumulated! I cleaned it with a vacuum but apparently not well enough. I was happy I had cleaned it but what if I hadn't cleaned it, we could have had a fire!

That's where dryer vent cleaning Toronto comes in! They are the Dryer Fighters Toronto and they have cleaned over 200,000 clothes dryers and dryer exhaust systems. They specialize in cleaning clothes dryers and dryer exhaust systems. Most dryer fires do not happen in the dryer duct, they start where lint collects inside the dryer cabinet and is close to the heating element or electrical wires. This why it is so important to have a professional clean the dryer vents and dryer exhaust systems. So the next time you are cleaning around the house or putting that next load of laundry into the dryer, remember to call and make an appointment with the Dryer Fighters Toronto they would be more than happy to come out and make sure you are safe!

My New Cute Cupcake Clock

Recently I had the opportunity to review a piece from an artist that does some wonderful work. Her name is Liane Fried and she owns her own website The Liane Fried Studio which carries a variety of creative pieces that range from clocks, bookStrings, coasters, mugs and magnets. I had a hard time picking just one piece from all her wonderful item but I finally picked out a really cute little magnetic cupcake clock. When my cupcake clock arrived it came with a small plastic stand to display it, which was nice since I didn't have a place to put it up magnetically.
The clock will be something I decorate my kitchen around once we move Into our own place. I really love to bake so this cupcake clock is perfect for me! My nine year old daughter wants to keep it for herself, which I thought was cute, I just might have to order another one! If you are interested in ordering one of Liane Fried Studio pieces you can visit her website here, and you can also follow Liane Fried Studio on Facebook.

*Disclosure: Please note that I received product in order to conduct a review. No other monetary compensation was provided. All opinions in this post are 100% my own.

Davis Chocolate ~ A Little Piece of Chocolate Heaven

If I were to every be stranded on an island there are a few things I could not live without and chocolate is one of them. Of course being on a stranded island and having some Davis Chocolate would actually be a great combination. You see Davis Chocolate is not your normal everyday candy bar chocolate, it is luxurious and rich in flavor. Oh and they have Chocolate Lava, which is why I said it would be perfect on a stranded island.
You see their Chocolate Lava is a liquid chocolate. Not that chocolate syrup stuff that you mix in milk for the kids, not this is the chocolate that you hide in the cupboard behind the vegetables, because we know that the kids and your spouse won't look there. I used my sample on some vanilla ice cream and I was in heaven. I actually could have just eaten it straight from the packet, it's that good. Chocolate Lava is available in Milk, Dark, White, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and Hazelnut Chocolate.

Davis Chocolate doesn't just have Chocolate Lava. They also have Powdered Nibs, unsweetened and semi-sweet. Powdered Cacao Nibs are raw, kosher, gluten-free, and vegan. They also have 10 lb chocolate bars in unsweetened, raw, dark and milk. Cocoa and Cocoa butter both can be purchased raw or roasted. And they also have Couverture, which is high quality chocolate that has more cocoa butter, this type of chocolate has a more mellow flavor and is used mostly for dipping, molding, coating and garnishing.

There is one thing that Davis Chocolate has that I never would have thought would be good or possible. It is called Peanutta, which is liquid peanut butter! Again it's not regular peanut butter that's melted and goes back into a firmer peanut butter. It stays in a liquid form. It's delicious. I also received a little goody that I haven't seen on the website but it's called Peanutta Pow, powdered peanut butter. I haven't used it just yet, I am waiting on my blended to come so I can make a milk shake with it. But I will make sure to let you all know how good it is once I try it.

For all you chocolate connoisseurs the website Davis Chocolate is a little piece of chocolate heaven. This is a must try for all chocolate lovers, even if you just order the Chocolate Lava, you will be so happy that you did! Look them up on Facebook, follow on Twitter @DavisChocolate, and follow them on Pinterest too.

Celebrating National Creamsicle Day With TCBY!! #CBias #TCBYGrocery #SocialFabric

Did you know that on August 14th it was National Creamsicle Day? Well I did and I was given the opportunity to celebrate Creamsicle Day with my family but first I had to go shopping at Walmart to get TCBY Fruit 'n Yogurt orange and vanilla bars. You can see my entire shopping trip here.

I went to Walmart with my son, Anthony, my daughters, Kaylen and Olivia and my Mom. We were not only there to get the TCBY frozen yogurt bars but to look for a birthday present for my youngest daughter, Isabella, since her birthday is August 15th. We looked through the toys but didn't find much. Anthony wanted to get her a doll named Skipper from the Barbie brand.
I thought about getting her a month subscription to Club Penguin, but with school starting I would rather she focus on her studies. But the Club Penguin price was pretty good.
Since we couldn't find a present for Isabella we went ahead to the frozen novelties and grabbed the TCBY Orange & Vanilla Bars. To make sure your local Walmart carries TCBY you can look it up on the TCBY Grocery website.
We couldn't wait to celebrate National Creamsicle Day! I opened a box and before all the creamsicles were gone I snapped a photo.
My son was happy to show his handsome face before he started chowing down his TCBY frozen yogurt orange & vanilla bar.
I started to eat mine and wanted to show that there is the perfect orange to vanilla ratio. I have had a lot of orange & vanilla bars and this is by far the best creamsicle bar I have ever had!
My daughter Isabella was willing to let me take a picture of her too. She said it tasted better than any popsicle she has had.

Since we all have decided the TCBY frozen yogurt orange & vanilla bars are great, next we are going to try the chocolate fudge bars! Yum!

For those that are interested in knowing more about TCBY Grocery you can follow them on TCBY Grocery Facebook, TCBYGrocery Twitter or get ideas from TCBY Grocery Pinterest!

Master Lock ~ Make Sure You Lock It Up!!!

Since school is starting there are a lot of things to get to be ready for the school year. For those students that ride a bike or maybe they have a laptop, since some schools have the laptop program, it's also important to think about Lock Up Safety. I know from experience how important it is to have not just a lock but a good, reliable lock. My sons bike was stolen a few years ago, unfortunately we had one of those cheap flimsy locks so it was easy to take. We have not made that mistake again. We now only purchase Master Lock for all our locking needs. Look at this awesome Master Lock dialSpeed Electronic Padlock.

It is so important to teach your child how to use a lock, help them remember the combination and most importantly, explain to them why they should never share their combination with anyone. For those laptop students Master Lock has come out with a great new way to lock up your laptop. And for the high school students, or even any student that carries cash, a phone or anything of value then you need to look into getting Master Lock's SafeSpace.
So remember even if you think you there is no way your things would be stolen it's always better to be safe then sorry. Do you know everything there is to know about safety and security? Then take the Master Lock Combo Challenge

I wrote this post to enter a contest for a Master Lock back-to-school prize pack as a member of the Mom Bloggers Club.

Goodbye Summer Vacation, We Will Miss You!

I cannot believe it is already August 13th!? This summer vacation with the kids felt more like a couple of weeks then two months. I hate when that happens. We didn't get to go any where special this summer but we still managed to have fun together. I have enjoyed watching my kids develop a strong bond with each other. Since we are a blended family, and some outsiders say that they aren't really siblings, I tend to think that will influence their relationship with each other. I was proven wrong this summer. My bonus sons have become great, helpful and loving big brothers to their sisters.

We had fun on the 4th of July, we did fireworks and and ate apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The day before the 4th we had a 3rd of July party and decorated the diningroom as well as the kids and I wore bandanas. We had Tombstone pizzas and Nestle's ice cream. Then we played board games until we couldn't keep our eyes open.

Then there we the nights of video games, movies and my favorite watching ghost shows on TV. We all went bowling, even though I can't bowl, I loved watching them all try their best. The kids played basketball even though it was 105º outside, they all five worked together to build a small "clubhouse" with a roof and all.

So even though this summer we didn't go out of town, or make it to the waterpark, we still had fun and enjoyed each other's company. It's memories that I hope they tell their children one day. You don't have to spend a bunch of money to have a blast together, you just need each other.

Sports You Probably Haven’t Tried.

With the 2012 Olympics in full swing nearly everyone is thinking about sport. All those muscled bodies may leave the rest of us feeling a little inferior but there are plenty of sports out there which will leave you feeling fitter and, with a little work, ready to compete in Rio 2016! (The publishers are not liable for failure to qualify for your Olympic squad!) By looking online you can quickly find a club near you and you may be surprised at the number and varieties available. Below I give my favourite few alternative sports.

Fencing – Two people hitting each other with swords, what’s not to love?! In all seriousness, fencing is great fun and accessible to any age and any ability. Many clubs take children from an early age and teach them using foam swords as well as normal protective equipment. Older competitors will progress onto the three different swords (foil, epée and sabre) and there is plenty of opportunity to take part in competitions at a regional or national level. The sport is great fun and, whilst not too demanding physically, it does give a good workout with increased muscle toning and flexibility soon noticed. Look online for a local club; they are often found at schools or community centres and meet weekly.

Handball – Fun, fast and furious, this cross between basketball and football is probably older than both! Extremely energetic, this sport will have you running about and burning calories in each of its two thirty minute periods. Action is intense, with high scores common, meaning that you won’t ever suffer from boredom during play. Small teams of seven on each side also mean that you are guaranteed being passed the ball and having your chance to go for goal. The sport is beginning to pick up popularity around the globe so there really isn’t a better time to get involved. Look online for your country’s national association which will have a list of clubs near you.

Synchronised Swimming – One of only two events which only women can compete in at the Olympics, this sport requires both grace and a surprising amount of strength as well as the ability to hold your breath for long periods of time. However, the rewards are many; improved fitness is just the start with many competitors citing the close bonds of friendship as being the best thing. Having to work in a team and achieve perfect choreography is an experience that brings those taking part much closer together. There are a surprising number of clubs popping up all over the world and the best place to find out more is to pop round to your local swimming pool and ask for details.

Whatever you decide to take up, being active and working with others will help you to feel both happier and healthier. All it takes is a little work and you will soon find something you love that you never would have guessed about before.
