Troubled Teen? Tips to Help Your Child Get Back on Track
Having a teenage that’s acting out in school or just generally have difficulties in their personal life can be incredibly difficult and stressful for parents. However, it can be incredibly tough to know what to do for a troubled teen that doesn't seem to want to listen to your advice. Fortunately, there are things parents can do, even when they feel like their child is out of control.
Use these 3 tips to help you get your family back and guide your child on the path to a brighter future.
1. Connect with Your Teen
Trying to connect with a teenager can be a difficult experience for many adults, especially if they don’t share many common interests with you. However, looking for something that you can bond with your teen over can help to build a lasting connection that will open doors to more serious communication about problematic issues in their life. It also helps your teen to recognize you as a person, not just an authority figure that tells them what to do all of the time, which is how many troubled teens feel at a certain age.
What you do to connect with your teen is really up to you, but focusing in on their hobbies and interests that are healthy and active is often the best idea. Listen to music, work on art projects or go to a sporting event. The activity doesn't matter, but the bonding does.
2. Take a Different Perspective
When you’re trying to talk to a teenager that’s your child, it can be easy to always talk as a parent. After all, you are their parent and you’re concerned about their welfare. However, many teens just don’t understand that.
Sometimes taking a different perspective – talking to them using a story or from personal experience in your life – is a more effective approach. Even if you’re not trying, many teens feel like most talks with parents are lectures, not advice.
3. Know When You Need Professional Help
Sometimes trying to connect with your teen and talk to them from a different perspective just isn't enough. When that’s the case, you may need to go outside of the normal channels and seek professional help for your child in the form of therapy or therapeutic boarding schools designed for troubled teens.
These options may seem drastic, but it’s essential that your child gets their life on track before college. Getting them prepared for life now will help them become happier, more well-rounded adults.

Thank you One2One Network for letting me participate in this sponsored campaign.
Lucky for him I was given this awesome opportunity to give him an wonderful gift. A beautiful Keurig! A Keurig K10 MINI Plus Brewing System that came with some Kcups for him to try as well. This Keurig K10 MINI is affordable and available in a variety of colors. I forgot to mention above about Anthony's roommate who also happens to be his girlfriend, Sharolyn, they will both actually be using this because she's also a sophomore at Fresno State. The Keurig will definitely help keep them both awake during classes, while studying or when they need to run errands. They were really happy to receive a Keurig, I missed getting a picture of their faces being shocked.
They were embarrassed about how they were dressed, but to me it's typical college attire. So after the shock wore off we talked about the fact that there are over 250 varieties of K-Cups from 40 plus brands! It's not just a coffee maker, you can also make cocoa, tea, even juices. Sharolyn is already familiar with how to use a Keurig but my Anthony had no clue! We explained how easy it is and how fast you can make a cup of coffee. In just under 5 minutes they can both have brewed their own cup. No more compromising on his or her brand of coffee.
So far they are loving the Keurig K10 MINI Plus and trying out K-Cups! If you're a parent of a child leaving for college or already attending this would make a great gift. Not only is it a fast way for them to make a tasty beverage and it doesn't take up much space either. You can also look into giving them one with their college decal on it or a colored one that will match their decor!
Here's an A+ way to start the school year off right—Go to Keurig.com and enter promo code JUSTBREWIT to get 20% off all MINI Plus Brewers PLUS a free 22/24 count box of K-Cup® packs. That's the school spirit! Valid until 3am ET/12am PT on 8/29.

The driver's ed course isn't like most because they use a different method of teaching. They take your child on a virtual road trip across the country giving them information in a fun and easy way to remember. I was also impressed how much they emphasize on being a safe driver. They also have a section called Fun Facts About Driving, I liked the Five Things You Don't Want to See in a Car. The five things are, in no particular order, Talking on the phone, texting, drinking & driving, applying make-up and eating. Most teens don't think a couple of these are a big deal but as a new driver they can be distracting and can easily cause an accident.
Throughout the course students are rewarded with a virtual postcard for completing a section. They can show off their accomplishments with their friends and family through social media. I know my kids like positive rewards like this, it makes them feel like they are getting one step closer to being finished. Anytime I had a question or concern I could look through their FAQ's section or better yet look at their video library of driving tips. So the video on parallel parking was remarkably helpful for me, yes me! I have been driving for almost 17 years and I never could figure out how to parallel park until now. So parents you may want to keep an eye out for some parts of the course that can be helpful even for you.

If you're looking for a movie filled with comedy, dramatic scenes and is action packed then look no further then Guardians of the Galaxy. I had the pleasure watching Guardians of the Galaxy before it's national release and I left wanting more. Not in a bad way, it was a seriously AWESOME movie. I could see Guardians of the Galaxy over and over again. The whole 121 minutes of the movie kept my attention and had me anticipating what would happen next.
